Black Mountain Nordic Club grooms the trails in this area. The trails are mostly designed for skate skiing but there is a skinny ski track set in the groomed trail. Late-season xc-ski. A bit icy in the morning, but much better at higher elevations and softening as the day went on. A nice jaunt up the ridge just south of Niwot Ridge with occasional views of the ridge and the headwaters of Lefthand Creek. It looks like my GPS ran out of power before I got to the car, so the route is a little short coming back.

The Pole Creek Area is a trail system maintained by Poweder Pass Skiiers and Shoers. This trail is the Inner Loop and is the equivilent of an interstate route. It is groomed for skate skiiers. This track is from the parking area to the East Gate of Yellowstone. It is 4.6 miles. It also goes up the highway which is closed for the winter. There are many many miles of trails in this area which are very well groomed.
